Butt Hinge
Technical specifications of butt hinges: material, dimensions, ball bearings, load capacity, and applications.
Product Description
Stainless steel 304 butt hinges are durable hardware components with excellent corrosion resistance, commonly used for wooden doors, steel doors, and furniture cabinets.
Butt hinges are one of the most widely used door hardware components. They are commonly applied to wooden doors, steel doors, and interior furniture. Below are the standard technical specifications to help select the appropriate hinge according to door size and weight:
- Material: Stainless steel 304 (corrosion-resistant) is the most common; brass (gold/antique finish) or steel are used for other applications.
- Common sizes: 4 inch (102×76 mm), 5 inch (127×76 mm), extended 5 inch (127×89 mm). Typical thickness ranges from 2.5 mm to 4 mm.
- Ball bearings: 2–4 ball bearings for smooth operation, reduced friction, and longer service life.
- Load capacity: approximately 15–20 kg/set for small hinges up to 80+ kg/set for larger models; ratings are often specified based on using three hinges per door.
- Applications: wooden doors, engineered wood doors, steel doors, and furniture cabinets. The hinge type should be selected according to door size and weight to prevent door sagging.
